The guy who fixed my roof told me to purchase a minimum of 10 keyword-rich domains for various aspects of my business. What’s the best use of these for search engine optimization purposes?

Unfortunately, there’s no good use for those when it comes to the search engines. If you try to gain an unfair advantage in the engines by blanketing them with lots of different sites, you will then be into that “deceptive” territory I’m always talking about.

In my opinion, your best bet is to simply park them all at one domain, and then forward the whole lot via a permanent 301-redirect to your main site, while telling your roofer to stick to roofing. (See “How To Redirect Multiple Parked Domains.”)

The only other viable option for the domains would be to truly build completely different sites at some of the domains. There’s nothing wrong with having a few sites, but they really should each provide different info in order for them to be effective. Just remember that keeping and maintaining many sites is a lot more work than just having one site that is the best it can be!

Most internet providers will offer a dial up level service but in the current format of the internet this type of service is the equivalent of having no service at all. Dial up service is so slow that it will not effectively load most websites and can crash each and every time you get a telephone call. It is also the type of service that is too slow to bid online with so if you want to use your internet for anything more than e-mail then this type of service simply won’t do.

There are varying internet speeds and different services that are offered. Broadband, cable, or satellite internet services all offer a much faster connection then dial up does but many times the upgrades of service that these companies provide you with are less than worth the investment. Many companies convince customers to pay more for a higher graded service that really will only work at a higher speed in certain areas and under certain circumstances.

In order to really tell if your upgrade is worth the money you should ask your internet provider to offer you a trial period with the upgraded service. This will allow you to compare your current speed of connection with the next higher level. Many people who are paying for this higher level of service have found that it provides little more in the way of speed or efficiency.

Some service areas don’t offer a high speed connection option and if this is the case at your home or workplace then you may wish to take a look at a wireless internet access card. In some areas this may be your only option to getting a high speed connection and sometimes you will need to find an independent provider to supply you with the card.

Choosing an internet service provider that offers you several different levels of service is of course your best option. In some areas you may have several to choose from and in other areas you may have to shop around for the best deals on a wireless internet access card. Either way it is important to make sure that you fully explore all your options to choose the connection speed and provider that offer you the best value for your money.
